Safe Himalayan Treks for Children

Children should start trekking as early as possible.It boost confidence when they got after crossing tricky sections of treks! Not to mention, the bond that formed with team work is outstanding!

1. Surkanda Devi Temple Trek: 12000 ft, 3km trek

My daughter did this trek when she was just 3 yr old.

It is a great trek if you are travelling with not so fit people. It will take anywhere from 30 mins to 2 hours to reach the temple. It is a well made path with a lot of seats and areas to rest in between. Once you reach the temple, the view and calmness at the top will make your journey worthwhile. It works for both- if you are a traveller who likes to explore spirituality, or explore nature. You can enjoy 360 degree view of Snow Cladded Himalaya from here including peaks of yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

From Mussourie its about 35 km

From Dhanaulti Its 10 km

2. Indradaha Trek Nepal: 11KM 2000 Mtrs.

My daughter did this trek in 6 hours when she was 4.5 yr old. 

Situated in outskirt in Kathmandu, Nepal. Just 10 Km away from the main center of Kathmandu City, Indra Daha/ Daha Chowk is one of the best destinations for observing the magnificent views of the Kathmandu City/valley  and the surrounding areas. However, it's still  under shadows despite tourism potentials. Sightseeing, jungle safari, picnic and hiking are much enjoyed activities here. On top of the hills surrounding the western part of Kathmandu lies Daha chowk is an important place for its religious, historical and recreational value. A popular pilgrim site, Indra Daha receives number of Nepalese visitors throughout the year. Another not-to-be-missed site here is the park constructed around the cemetery of King Prithvi Narayan Shah’s chief commander, Kalu Pandey.

3.  George Everest's House Trek Mussourie

the views from here is good, the place itself needs some easy trek, though the car also can go there. The place itself is very scenic .On reaching the spot, we can see the Doon Valley on one side
